Prairie Farm

Prairie Farm is a replica of a turn-of-the century farm complete with barns, farmhouse, pond, pasture, & flower garden. It is open to the general public from Memorial Day to the middle of August. The Farm features traditional farm animals such as sheep, pigs, goats, horses, cows, chickens, and geese.No admission is charged, but donations to help feed the animals are appreciated. Farm tours and birthday parties are available by making reservations for these popular programs. Horse drawn trolley rides are also available weekdays throughout the summer.

Kilgus Farmstead is the only on farm milk bottling facility in Illinois currently. We have been in the dairy business since the 1950's but just started an on farm processing plant this summer. We have our bottling plant right on the farm. The products we produce are whole milk, 2%, skim milk. We also make chocolate milk as well as a soft serve icecream.
We have an on farm retail shop that offers our milk and other local products including cheese, beef, honey, and produce. Our retail area also has large viewing windows into the bottling operation so guests can watch the milk being put into the jugs.
